ABOUT the programme

Introduction

Take your organisation on an exciting learning and development journey over the next 13 months with Refugee Action’s Explore Adapt Renew (EAR) Digital Campus. You’ll get access to tools, support and hands-on training to build your and your colleagues’ knowledge, experience and confidence with digital. To help you take part, we’ll reimburse expenses towards your participation in the programme and some of the tools you’ll be using.

When does it start?

The programme will run between May 2023 and June 2024.

What does it cover?

Digital Campus is a progressive learning programme, made up of four modules. Each module is like a building block - boosting your understanding of digital and challenging you to think and do differently.

It’s expected that participating organisations will take part in all of the modules - but you can decide if it’s the same person that attends all four modules, or multiple people sharing the work amongst you.

Support to take part

We have space for 7 organisations to take part in this programme.

To help you take part we can reimburse expenses of £2,084.75 per organisation. This covers £1500 for your time and £584.75 for digital tools. (We’ll be using no- or low-code applications).

What you will achieve

Over the course of the programme, you and your colleagues will:

  • Explore the foundational digital skills your organisation needs to thrive
  • Gain access to your own version of a comprehensive new digital skills framework
  • Receive specialist support to develop a roadmap so you can continue your upskilling work in digital
  • Learn innovative techniques from the digital world to enhance your work and problem-solving abilities
  • Develop a better understanding of the challenges faced by your volunteers, colleagues and individuals / communities you support
  • Gain access to peer support discussions, where you can discuss challenges with others who are in a similar position to you
  • Start solving a real digital challenge that your organisation is currently facing
  • Learn the fundamentals used in User Centred Design
  • Improve your confidence with digital problem-solving processes
  • Gain access to exclusive masterclasses on a range of digital topics
  • Shape your projects and processes with the involvement of people with lived experiences within your team or organisation
  • Learn how to develop and conduct user research interviews
  • Gain access to a growing network of digital leads sharing best practice and advice

Criteria

Your organisation:

  • Is providing direct support to communities affected by migration and/or forced displacement.
  • Is interested in working to increase the digital skills of staff.
  • Has some level of senior buy-in for upskilling.
  • Has two members of staff or volunteers that can participate in this programme, one of whom ideally has lived experience of the refugee and asylum system.
  • Between the two members of staff, you’ll dedicate 15 days to this project (from 30th May 2023 til June 2024).
  • This is a mix of time working with Refugee Action and CAST, as well as self-led work in your organisation to embed the skills framework and carry out other learning activities.
  • Your organisation can take part in an advisory group to inform delivery of the framework to the wider sector (this will involve quarterly zoom meetings)
  • Your organisation can take part in open working - write a blog supported by the CAST comms manager.

Applications from organisations led by people with lived experience of forced migration will be prioritised. We are also looking to support a geographical spread of organisations.
